Dear Student,
We hope you’re settling in well and feel at home here at Murdoch College. Starting your studies in a new country is an exciting experience, but we also understand it comes with its own set of challenges. Please know that our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Recently, we’ve become aware that some newly enrolled students have been approached by education agents encouraging them to transfer to colleges in the Eastern states—sometimes just weeks after commencing their studies.
We’d like to share some important information to help you make informed choices:
What you should know
-
Your education comes first
Murdoch College and Murdoch University are fully TEQSA-accredited and provide high-quality education and support services. Institutions promoted by these agents may not offer the same level of academic recognition or student care. -
Visa risks
When applying for your student visa, you MUST DECLARE any family members living in Australia. Requesting a transfer later to live near someone you hadn’t disclosed can raise red flags with immigration and jeopardize your visa status.
-
Don’t be pressured
Some agents may use scare tactics such as “you’ll be deported if you don’t transfer.” These statements are false. If you’re ever unsure, speak with us first. Don’t act out of fear or urgency. -
Release is not guaranteed
Release requests are considered only under compassionate or compelling circumstances, and each case is assessed thoroughly by both Murdoch College and Murdoch University.
If you’re feeling unsure, facing difficulties with your studies, or thinking about a release, we encourage you to speak with the College Services team or student counsellor. We're here to provide guidance, clarify your options, and ensure your decisions are in your best long-term interest.
Best regards,
College Services Team
